Thai employee of trading firm convicted for exporting filthy medical gloves

Thailand’s Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court have sentenced an employee of Paddy the Room Trading Company to four years in prison after the accused confessed to exporting second-hand nitrile medical gloves to the US.

Khun Prayuth Phetchkhun, the deputy. A spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office yesterday provided details of the case presented to prosecutors by the Consumer Product Police Division (CPPD) in March.

The first accused in the case is the company, the second accused the director of the company, Mr Luk-Fei Yang Yang, and the third accused is an employee of Pipatphon Homjanya.

All three defendants have been charged with manufacturing unauthorized medical devices, producing and selling substandard false medical devices and using standard labels without authorization.

They were also accused of using trademarks registered by others and selling products with false trademarks.

CPPD has sued the company and Pipatphon, while prosecutors have dismissed the case against Mr Luk-Fei Yang Yang for lack of evidence.
