An unknown young man, believed to be Thai according to Pattaya police, was beaten up on Pattaya beach last Wednesday night.

The boy was discovered around 11:30 p.m. by a beach mat seller lying in a pool of his own blood with serious facial injuries on the beach not far from Central Festival Shopping Mall.

The 30-year-old beach mat seller, Prajai Rodmuang, told paramedics from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation that he heard several people yelling and arguing about money prior to the incident, but stated that he had not followed the altercation clearly. After hearing screams, he rushed to the area surrounding the incident and found the unidentified man, believed to be around thirty years old, seriously injured on the beach.

Prajai immediately called the police and emergency services for help. A total of three men, presumably the attackers, fled.

Pattaya police told local media that they would review CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events and what had happened. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains at the time of writing this article. His current condition was not released by medical personnel, although they did say he appeared to be seriously intoxicated and a blood test would be performed.

This is the second incident involving a person reportedly assaulted on Pattaya Beach in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a Swedish man was allegedly attacked while drinking a beer alone on the beach.

We will update this story as more information is released by Pattaya Police

A last-minute update: Pattaya police identified the victim as 27-year-old Anon Sriluesak, presumably a Thai citizen.
