Two beaches in Thailand are on a list of the world’s most beautiful beaches published this month by a British news outlet, government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana told the national press.
The British newspaper Daily Star analyzed Instagram posts and Google articles about beaches with the word ‘beautiful’ to reveal the top 20 most beautiful beaches in the world.
The Sunrise Beach on Satun and Maya Bay on Krabi were ranked 6th and 12th respectively.
The top three beaches on the list were Venice Beach (Los Angeles), Byron Bay in Australia and El Nido in the Philippines.
Of course, Prime Minister Prayut is pleased with the results, which demonstrate the confidence, popularity, and impact of Thailand’s natural attractions,” Thanakorn said.
He went on to say that the government was focusing on its tourism stimulus plan to boost foreign arrivals this year.
Thailand’s tourism authority, the TAT, expects the current level of 1 million foreign travelers per month to rise to 1.5 million from October to December. It predicts a total number of arrivals this year of 10 million, bringing in tourist revenues of 1.5 trillion baht.
