ASEAN NOW has published that Thailand will consider reopening bars, clubs, lounges ahead of schedule after the number of new covid19 infections plummeted to the lowest in four months.
Earlier this month, the administrative centre for Covid19 containment, the CCSA, announced that bars and other entertainment venues would be closed until January 16 next year.
Last night, however, the Secretary-General of the National Security Council, Supot Malaniyom, said a proposal would be considered next week that could allow the bars to be given the green light to open ahead of schedule.
Supot ruled out bars opening from December 1 but said proposals to reopen were “very good” and said there was “a chance” the reopening could be brought forward.
If approved, sites with SHA or equivalent security measures could likely reopen.
Meanwhile, the CCSA spokesperson, Apisamai Srirangson, urged sites to register for SHA certification, adding that an early reopening “will depend on sites readiness” to ensure a COVID-19-free environment. can create.
The CCSA also plans to add more countries to the list of places eligible for quarantine-free travel from December 1.
More than 50,000 tourists have now entered Thailand since the country opened to tourism on Nov. 1.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health revealed that 65% of people in Thailand have now received at least one dose of a Covid19 vaccine, while 53% have received a full one, and Thailand hopes to start booster vaccinations next year.
