Thailand is waiving the requirement for proof of vaccination against Coovid-19 when foreign tourists enter the country
This was announced by the Minister of Health of Thailand Anutin Charnvirakul at a press conference at Suvarnabhumi Airport welcoming the first flight from China arriving in Bangkok on January 9.
The vaccination requirement for all foreign tourists arriving in Thailand was originally supposed to go into effect on Monday, January 9, and be in effect until at least the end of the month.
However, at a press conference at the airport, Anutin Charnvirakul told reporters that confirmation of vaccination is not required, as immunization is sufficient worldwide, and those who are not vaccinated will be allowed to enter without restrictions.
Anutin’s statement overturned requirements announced Saturday and adjusted Sunday by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. The rules stated that all arriving foreigners must be vaccinated against Covid-19, or provide a letter confirming that they have recovered from Covid-19 within six months.
