Pilots, crew members and passengers on domestic flights are not allowed to wear face masks with an exhalation valve, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) director-general Suttipong Kongpool said.
He said the ban is aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19 and is effective immediately.
“The aim is to improve air traffic safety in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization,” he added.
Aircraft personnel and passengers are required to wear only medical or cloth face masks at all times during the aircraft. Exceptions can be made in an emergency.
The CAAT also urges airlines to encourage passengers to bring an extra cloth or medical mask in case the mask they are wearing is damaged or lost.
