Over the past week, the immigration office on Soi 5 of Jomtien Beach Road has been busy again, the busiest time is around opening time, the afternoons tend to be a bit quieter.
The double holiday on Monday and Wednesday of this week created the typical early morning immigration wave with 100 people already queuing up by opening time at 8:30 am. The busiest counters were to report 90 days of stay in the kingdom and to request extensions of stay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Social distancing and the wearing of face masks were generally well observed prior to a temperature check.
After receiving a queue number at the reception, foreigners can, if necessary, take a seat in the covered parking lot to avoid overcrowding inside. A loudspeaker facility announces the next number for each counter. Nevertheless, the Immigration Office remains one of the most “popular” locations in Pattaya and one of the few public services still operating normally.
