DC Comics has taken a big step to provide more LGBTQI+ representation in their comics. From November 9, you can read how the new Superman, Jon Kent, comes out as bisexual.
COMING-OUT
Jon Kent is the son of the ‘classic’ Superman Clark Kent and Lois Lane and has since taken over from his father. In the comic series Superman: Son of Kal-El, which has been out since July, you can read how he fares at a very young age since Jon is 17 years old.
In the fifth issue of the same comic series, Jon will now come out as bisexual and will start a relationship with his good friend and reporter Jay Nakamura, after they share their first kiss in the new issue.
LOOKING BACK IN HEROES
“I’ve always said that everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their favourite heroes,” late writer Tom Taylor know. “I’m grateful that DC and Warner Bros share that same idea. Superman has always been a symbol of hope, truth and justice. Today that symbolizes something more. Now more people can see themselves in the strongest superheroes.”
