Two major outbreaks in a market and migrant shelters pushed the number of new Covid-19 cases in Chonburi province to 335 yesterday, the highest number since the start of the most recent round of infections in April.

Since the start of the third wave of virus in early April, there have been 196,502 infections and 1,599 deaths in Thailand. Bangkok topped the list of newly infected people with 1,154 cases, followed by Samut Prakan (696), Chonburi (335), Songkhla (293), Samut Sakhon (250), Pathum Thani (211), Nonthaburi (169) and Nakhon Pathom (162).
In the past 24 hours, a further 152,809 people received their first Covid-19 vaccination and 74,830 people the second. This brings the total number of doses administered in Thailand to 7,906,696.
