The Sandbox tourists stranded on the holiday island of Phuket as all domestic flights have been suspended due to the severe Covid-19 outbreak are being offered a special bus transfer to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

The service is only for those who want to take a flight from Suvarnabhumi to their other destinations. Return flights are available to anyone wishing to fly directly to their home country from Phuket.

The bus transfer is offered until August 16 for 1,500 Baht per person on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The bus departs from Central Phuket Festival at 05:00 AM and stops at PTT gas station in Thalang district at 05:30 AM. Arrival at Suvarnabhumi is around 9:00 PM.

The Sandbox Express bus service can only be booked by hotels certified by the Safety and Health Administration (SHA).

Many of the “Sandbox” tourists who had planned to travel to other places in Thailand, were allowed to leave their 14-day stay, but are now having trouble getting off the island.

The provincial administration and administrative centre for Covid19 control, the CCSA, are diligently looking for solutions to get these tourists off the isolated island.
