A 23-year-old female tourist has fallen to her death at Na Muang waterfall on Samui island while taking photos at its edge
The incident was reported around 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. Rescuers immediately arrived on the scene and found the body of a woman with no signs of life, with large wounds on the back of her head.
Her male friend told rescuers that the woman was taking selfies on the edge of the fourth level of the waterfall before she fell and hit her head on a rock on the second level.
The tourist was identified as Nane-Josana Bodea, a Romanian national living in Austria. She was staying at the Bang Po Village Hotel in Tambon Mae Nam on the north side of the popular resort island.
Her body was sent to Samui Island Hospital for pathological examination.
On Nov. 14, 2019, Bastien Palmier, a 30-year-old French tourist fell to his death at the same waterfall after trying to take selfies while standing too close to the edge. Even though there are signs around the area warning people of the dangers of Na Muang Falls.
