Trump is happy with Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, but he’s not coming back

Must read

Former US President Donald Trump is happy that Elon Musk has taken over Twitter. ” Now the social media platform is back in sensible hands,” he writes on his own social media platform. Still, Trump does not want to return to the platform he was previously banned from after inflammatory tweets.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter on Thursday. Musk wants to make the platform a sanctuary for free speech, with less strict rules. Everything must be said. “Humor is now legal on Twitter,” Musk tweeted Friday afternoon.

Trump was banned from Twitter in January last year, shortly after his supporters stormed the Capitol. His tweets are said to be a security risk and incitement to violence. Musk never agreed with this decision. “To ban someone for his opinion is morally wrong and just plain stupid,” Musk tweeted at the time. He said that if he ever took ownership of Twitter, Trump would be allowed to return. Now he’s tempering these expectations a bit, as he won’t make any decisions about blocked accounts until a new, politically diverse panel is formed to cover controversial content on the platform.

Trump himself is happy with the acquisition by Musk, because he thought the company would first be run by “radical left-wing lunatics and maniacs who really hate our country”. However, he does not think he will return to Twitter. In a post on Truth Social, he writes that his own platform looks and works better. “I simply like it better here and I prefer to stick to the truth,” the former president told Fox News Digital . “I like Elon and I wish him the best of luck, but I don’t think Twitter will be successful without me.”

Trump had more than 80 million followers on Twitter. On his own Twitter copy of Truth Social, there are only a few million.
