A 30-year-old woman testifies in the abuse case against R. Kelly that starts Monday in Chicago. That’s what American media write. It is the first time the victim will talk about the abuse.
A video will also be shown in the lawsuit in which she and the singer can be seen together. According to prosecutors, R. Kelly had sex with her “hundreds of times” when she was a minor.
The video that is shown was previously used in a lawsuit in 2008. The singer was then acquitted of all charges of child pornography. At the time, prosecutors said R. Kelly manipulated the victims and paid them not to testify. In doing so, he would have “obstructed the course of justice”. This charge will also be discussed during the trial in Chicago.
The singer is on trial in Chicago for sexual abuse of minors and for producing child pornography. At the end of June, R. Kelly was already found guilty in New York for, among other things, leading an organization that aimed to abuse women and underage girls. He was sentenced to thirty years in prison for this.
