Phuket Vegetarian Festival has kicked off with strict security measures
Phuket’s popular vegetarian festival is Wednesday, October 5 and will be held under strict security measures until October 14 to prevent Covid19 virus from spreading further.
Phadungkiet Utoksenee, Phuket’s provincial public health physician, said the province has taken measures to contain the spread of the disease, such as limiting the number of Chinese temple officials and visitors, conducting tests on officials using antigen kits, reducing of the ceremony process and the waiver of the sale of fireworks. (except those of the raft type).
He said the festival will be held as usual, but authorities have put in place preventive Covid-19 rules to reduce crowds.
“All Chinese temples in the province have accepted this and are ready to take measures to contain the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
He added that fully vaccinated visitors who tested negative for Covid-19 within seven days using RT-PCR or antigen testing are allowed to participate in the festival.
