Wanted American Arrested for Murder of Pregnant Woman in Northern Thailand
In this northern province, an American man has been arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant wife and putting her body in a trash can he dumped in a field in northern Thailand.
32-year-old Jason Matthew Balzer, fled the home he shared in Nan province with his 32-year-old wife, Khun Pitchaporn Kidchob.
Pitchaporn’s mother was concerned about her daughter’s well-being after visiting the couple’s rented home on Monday when she saw Balzer fleeing the property on a motorcycle. Bloodstains were found in several places in the house.
Mr Balzer was seen on CCTV as he fled the area.
On Wednesday, a team of police with sniffer dogs found Pitchaporn’s body in a field about 9 miles from their home. Her body had been put in a trash can and dumped in the undergrowth.
Siam Rath reported that Mr Balzer was arrested yesterday afternoon in Chiang Mai’s Hang Dong district, police said he confessed to the murder of Khun Pitchaporn. Mr. Balzer had moved to Thailand in 2019 and had previously been charged with attempted murder in the United States.
According to this report, the then-30-year-old Balzer was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, assault, and a host of other crimes including domestic violence.
Mr Balzer remains in custody and will be transferred to Nan province.
