YouTube star and rally driver Ken Block (55) died after a snowmobile accident

Renowned American rally driver and YouTube star Ken Block has died at the age of 55 after a snowmobile accident. His team announced the other morning . Block was best known for his videos on YouTube in which he performed dangerous stunts.

The accident happened earlier today in the US state of Utah. According to the local sheriff , Block drove up a steep slope on a snowmobile. The driver’s snowmobile flipped over for unknown reasons and landed on top of Block. He died on the spot from his injuries.

Block’s racing team confirmed his death through their website. In a statement, they express their admiration for Block. “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And above all, a father and husband. He will be sorely missed.”

Block became known in 2005 from rallying in the United States. He scored victories in several racing classes, but was unable to break through in the FIA ​​World Rally Championship. The driver was better known for his videos on YouTube and social media, in which he performed daring stunts with rally cars, also known as gymkhana or rallycross. For example, he drove rally cars through tight spaces or routes full of tight bends. His videos have been viewed tens of millions of times on YouTube.

In addition to his work in motorsports, Block was a founding member of the DC Shoes footwear and apparel brand and part of Hoonigan. Still, according to his team, he was above all a devoted father and husband.
